“There is no beauty in the ashes of abuse, but there is hope when you find your community, and there is hope when you feel safe enough to tell your story and know that someone believes you.”
Why this space exists
Some stories are difficult to tell. Others are difficult for people to hear. Too often, women experiencing emotional, psychological, financial, or other forms of abuse are met with a question that overlooks the realities of their lives: Why don't you just leave?
The Stories We Carry is being created to make room for the complexity behind that question — the children, finances, housing, healthcare, fear, love, and countless other circumstances that can shape a woman's choices.
Here, the goal is not to turn suffering into a lesson or demand a particular ending. It is to listen, to believe, and to recognize the humanity in every story.
“Every woman owns her story. Sharing it should never mean surrendering control over it.”
This project is in development. Story submissions are not open yet. Before inviting anyone to share, we are designing the privacy, consent, and safety protections this space deserves.
